RHCB and Dr. Seuss Enterprises Launch 2nd Annual #SeussWordChallenge
With the success of last year’s first-ever Dr. Seuss’s Word Challenge (#SeussWordChallenge), which resulted in over 20 million Dr. Seuss words being read by young readers over the summer, Random House Children’s Books (RHCB) and Dr. Seuss Enterprises (DSE) are upping the ante this year and challenging readers to read even more than they did in 2018. This year’s goal is reading 250 million Dr. Seuss words nationwide. Consumers can enter the challenge via Seussville.com and track their progress from May 21 to July 15.
As an incentive for participating in the program, eligible readers will have an opportunity to enter the Word Challenge Sweepstakes, with one grand-prize winner receiving a Carnival cruise for four, provided by program partner, Carnival Cruise Line. Two runner-up winners will receive Dr. Seuss books and products. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to US residents, 25 and older. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. For the official rules, visit wordchallenge.seussville/com/sweepstakes-rules.
As participants work toward their personal word goals, they can check the website for a featured Dr. Seuss book of the week, encouraging collaborative reading and reminding readers of Dr. Seuss titles they may want to include as part of their reading journey. Titles include Oh, the Places You’ll Go!; Green Eggs and Ham; One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish; The Cat in the Hat; Fox in Socks; There’s a Wocket in My Pocket; Dr. Seuss’s ABC; and What Pet Should I Get?
As part of Carnival Cruise Line’s successful Seuss at Sea program, the line will once again be joining in on the challenge and encouraging guests sailing to read the most Dr. Seuss words at sea beginning in June, as well as tracking guest participation at their popular Seuss-a-palooza Story Time to help reach this year’s goal.
Penguin Random House employees are not eligible to enter Dr. Seuss’s Word Challenge Sweepstakes, but if you would like to support the challenge and spread the word, please share the #SeussWordChallenge on social media. As a reminder, if you are posting to a personal or other non-PRH account you must include the hashtag #TeamPRH.
