There's a Book for That: Memorial Day

TheresABookForThatlogoTnailMay 30th is Memorial day. The last Monday in May, originally designated as “Decoration Day” in 1868, honors American men and women who have died in service to our Country. Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and was officially proclaimed by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic“for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land.” Our featured titles, by and about our military, honor the sacrifices made by these men and women in wars ranging from The Civil War to Iraq.
