Chang, Evans, Gyasi, Thorpe on the 2021 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction Longlist
The PEN/Faulkner Foundation has announced its 10-title longlist for this year’s PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, which includes four books published by Penguin Random House imprints:
- BESTIARY by K-Ming Chang (One World; Hamish Hamilton Canada)
- THE KNOCKOUT QUEEN by Rufi Thorpe (Alfred A. Knopf; Bond Street Books, PRH Canada)
- THE OFFICE OF HISTORICAL CORRECTIONS: A Novella and Stories by Danielle Evans (Riverhead Books)
- TRANSCENDENT KINGDOM by Yaa Gyasi (Alfred A. Knopf)

Finalists will be announced in March. The winning book–the “first among equals,” according to the judges–will be announced in April.
PEN/Faulkner Literary Champion LeVar Burton will be honored, along with this year’s PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction winner and finalists, in a virtual celebration to be held on May 10.
