Penguin Random House Is Back at San Diego Comic Con

Penguin Random House was back at San Diego Comic-Con this year and proved a huge success. Comic-Con attendees were captivated by our romance, fantasy, graphic novels, horror, and fiction titles; best of all, they wanted to discover our new releases!
All book sales went through our indie bookstore partner, Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore! We reached record sales driven by Con Editions, author signings, and favorite brands. Our fantastic booth staff worked tirelessly to pitch books and make personalized book recommendations for our customers, which led to a successful show and to selling out many of our titles!
Our con exclusives included: THE BOOK OF ELSEWHERE, which had stained black edges, exclusive jacket art, and was signed by both authors. We also brought a limited special first edition of THE NIGHT ENDS WITH FIRE, as well as a con exclusive box that included the book, stickers, envelopes for readers to open after certain pages, and more! Finally, we had an EARTHLIGHT Con Exclusive Player from Playaway, featuring a bonus booklet with an exclusive author letter, script pages, and full cast list.
We hosted author signings in-booth and in the autographing areas, including Paolo Bacigalupi, Lev Grossman, Camilla d’Errico, Sarah Hawley, Heather Walter, Nicola Yoon, Joel Christian Gill, Tiffany D. Jackson, K.X. Song, and many more.
Additionally, WATERSHIP DOWN: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, won the Eisner award for ‘Best Adaption from Another Medium’, Juliet Johnson (daughter of the original Watership Down author Richard Adams) was at the show to sign copies of the graphic novel alongside illustrator Joe Sutphin at the Penguin Random House booth. LORE OLYMPUS author, Rachel Smythe, also won an Eisner award for ‘Best Webcomic’.
Our brand-new Kids & Family Zone had a fun visit from both the Cat in the Hat and the Grinch! The Kids Zone, highlighting a key title or brand each day, allowed for a more interactive experience for children at the con, and a fun photo opportunity with some of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters.
This year, we also featured the Book Oracle at our Penguin Random House booth, making its Comic-Con debut! Pairing you with your next perfect read and recommendations via a fun quiz, the Book Oracle consistently had a line people were eager to wait in, every single day.
San Diego Comic Con 2024 was another huge success, and a big thank you to our hardworking booth staff who made this fantastic showing possible!
