Penguin Random House’s partnership with AFROPUNK includes a 10-week Rock ‘n’ Read Book Club Instagram Live interview series hosted by AFROPUNK, exploring topics around storytelling, identity and the creative process with Penguin Random House authors. Brit Bennett, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling novel, THE VANISHING HALF (Riverhead), will be in conversation with Nicole Counts, One World Senior Editor and Publishing Manager, via Instagram Live on Wednesday, June 24, at 5:00pm (ET). From The New York Times-bestselling author of The Mothers, THE VANISHING HALF is a stunning new novel about twin sisters, inseparable as children, who ultimately choose to live in two very different worlds, one black and one white.
Born and raised in Southern California, Bennett graduated from Stanford University and later earned her MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan, where she won a Hopwood Award in Graduate Short Fiction as well as the 2014 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers. Her work is featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review, and Jezebel. She was one of the National Book Foundation’s 2016 5 Under 35 honorees.
