Amy Bloom (author of White Houses), Lisa Lucas (publisher at Pantheon and Schocken Books), Connie Schultz (author of The Daughters of Erietown), and Preet Bharara (former United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and author of Doing Justice) will be the featured players on “STET! Game Night,” hosted and refereed by Random House’s copy chief himself, Benjamin Dreyer, author of DREYER’S ENGLISH, which spawned the card game STET! Dreyer’s English, via Zoom on Wednesday, August 12 at 8:00 pm (ET).

STET! (a copyeditor’s term that means “let it stand”) helps players sharpen their language skills or show them off.  There are 100 entertaining sentences waiting for you, and the first person to spot the error, or else call out “STET!” if there is no error, gets the card. There are two ways to play: compete for points in a straightforward grammar game, or play with style and syntax and whip the author’s sentences into splendid shape. The person with the most cards at the end of the game wins!

This “STET! Game Night” competition will be fierce, the sentences will be ugly . . . and you, the members of the audience, might even have a chance to get pulled up onto the virtual stage to play the game, too.
