Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, who co-edited ALL WE CAN SAVE: Truth, Courage and Solutions for the Climate Crisis (One World), will speak with several of the book’s contributors, alongside featured readings from a selection of the collection’s poetry, at a virtual event hosted by the New York Public Library via Zoom on Tuesday, October 13 at 8:00 pm (ET).

“The climate crisis is not gender neutral,” write Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and Katharine K. Wilkinson, editors of the new collection ALL WE CAN SAVE: Truth, Courage and Solutions for the Climate Crisis. “The list of harmful impacts caused by our rapidly changing climate goes long and it goes wide, especially for girls and women of color, those in the Global South, and those who are rural or indigenous. In very real ways, the climate crisis thwarts the rights and opportunities of women and girls, as well as nonbinary people. These realities make gender-responsive strategies for climate resilience and adaptation critical.”

Intermixing essays with poetry and art, ALL WE CAN SAVE illuminates the expertise and insights of dozens of diverse women leading on climate in the United States—scientists, journalists, farmers, lawyers, teachers, activists, innovators, wonks, and designers across generations, geographies, and race—with the aim of advancing a more representative, nuanced, and solution-oriented public conversation on the climate crisis.
