To celebrate the September 24, 2024 launch of MS. RACHEL AND THE SPECIAL SURPRISE! and the broader publishing collaboration with Random House Children’s Books, Penguin Random House is donating 5,000 books to Save the Children’s early education programs in rural America.
This donation also marks the 10-year anniversary of Penguin Random House and Save the Children working together as charitable partners!

Within 24 hours, it became the highest day-one pre-ordered picture book at Random House Children’s Books. The announcement was quickly picked up by major outlets, including USA Today, Yahoo! The book officially went on sale yesterday, with Rachel making appearances on NBC-TV’s Today during the 8 AM and 10 AM hours. Today, September 25, she will also be featured on CBS-TV’s The Drew Barrymore Show. Additionally, the next three books in the series—100 FIRST WORDS, MY FIRST COLORING BOOK, and POTTY TIME WITH BEAN—were revealed today on Today.com.
