Cover Reveal: Deepti Kapoor’s AGE OF VICE, Coming From Riverhead in January 2023
The cover of one of the most highly anticipated novels being published next year – AGE OF VICE by Deepti Kapoor – was exclusively revealed on ABC’s Good Morning America this week. The book will be released by Riverhead on January 3, 2023 as the first installment of a planned trilogy. A high-profile acquisition, AGE OF VICE was the buzziest book of the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair, selling in 20 countries all over the world.
AGE OF VICE is cinematic in scope, equal parts crime thriller and family saga. The novel tells the story of how, in the shadow of lavish estates, extravagant parties, predatory business deals and calculated political influence, three lives become dangerously intertwined: Ajay is the watchful servant, born into poverty, who rises through the family’s ranks. Sunny is the playboy heir who dreams of outshining his father, whatever the cost. And Neda is the curious journalist caught between morality and desire. Against a sweeping plot fueled by loss, pleasure, greed, yearning, violence and revenge, AGE OF VICE makes readers question if the characters’ connections become a path to escape, or a trigger of further destruction?
National Book Award Finalist Rumaan Alam calls AGE OF VICE “a good old-fashioned gangster story, impossible to put down. It’s a novel garlanded with Shakespearean flourishes — star-crossed lovers, secret identities, complicated conspiracies — exploring timeless questions of family, loyalty, and fate.”
AGE OF VICE is also being adapted for the screen, with an FX television series in the works.
Before becoming a novelist, Deepti Kapoor worked for several years as a journalist in New Delhi, after growing up in Northern India. Also the author of the novel Bad Character, she now lives in Portugal with her husband.
