Crown to Publish Senator Bernie Sanders’ FIGHT OLIGARCHY
Crown announced today the imminent publication of FIGHT OLIGARCHY, a new book by New York Times bestselling author Senator Bernie Sanders.
In recognition of the urgency of Senator Sanders’ message and in a departure from standard industry practice, FIGHT OLIGARCHY will initially be released in digital formats on September 30, 2025 in e-book and Audiobook editions. A paperback edition, accessibly priced at $14.99, will be published on October 21, providing members of the public with a timely resource for our current moment.
On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump took office with America’s billionaires standing at his side. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg flanked him, with 13 more billionaires—his own appointees to lead major federal agencies—lined up behind them. As Sanders writes, this was “a government of the billionaire class, by the billionaire class, for the billionaire class,” and “under Trump, unless we stop him, the very rich will become much richer and more powerful while working families will fall further and further behind. Trump, unless we stop him, will gather more and more power into his own hands, undermine the rule of law and our democracy, and move us rapidly toward an authoritarian society.”
Sanders quickly launched his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, hitting blue states and red states to rally Americans ready to resist. Record-breaking crowds turned out in some of the most unexpected corners of the country—Nampa, Idaho, Missoula, Montana, and Wheeling, West Virginia—to hear what he had to say. With over 300,000 people across 34 events, and millions more who watched videos online, one thing is clear: Sanders is building a movement of Americans who are energized to fight for democracy.
Now, with FIGHT OLIGARCHY, Sanders takes his message a step further, giving us a manifesto to understand how to continue that fight. In a series of concise, pointed chapters, Sanders explains how oligarchic control over the economy and political system has left millions of Americans struggling to afford basic needs, while the powerful grow richer and more entrenched. He observes how a corrupt campaign finance system allows billionaires in both parties to increasingly control our political system. And he calls on Democratic Party leadership to stop ignoring the working class, which is what led to Trump’s rise to power in the first place.
FIGHT OLIGARCHY also warns of the dangers posed by an increasingly authoritarian political environment, with a president attacking Congress, the courts, the media, law firms, and universities to gain more power for himself. Yet the book is ultimately a rallying cry rooted in optimism—reminding readers that real power still rests with the people, and that collective action can restore a government that serves the many, not just the few.
“We live in an unprecedented moment in American history as we confront oligarchy, authoritarianism, kleptocracy and a savage attack on the needs of the working class – 60% of whom are living paycheck to paycheck,” said Sanders. “My hope in writing this short book is to help provide Americans with a better understanding of the crises we face and how we can effectively fight back against Trumpism and his demagoguery. The oligarchs may have extraordinary wealth and power but, if we stand together and not let them divide us, we can defeat them and create a government and economy that works for all, not just the few.”
