HEIR by Sabaa Tahir Named Inaugural GMA YA Book Club Pick
ABC’s Good Morning America has selected HEIR by Sabaa Tahir (On sale October 1, 2024; Putnam Books for Young Readers) as their inaugural GMA YA Book Club pick. In this action-packed, ruthless, and romantic new fantasy Sabaa Tahir, National Book Award Winner and #1 New York Times bestselling author of All My Rage and An Ember in the Ashes, masterfully interweaves the lives of three young people: an orphan seeking revenge, an outcast in search of a new life, and a prince in exile, as they grapple with the burdens of power, the treachery of love and the devastating consequences of unchecked greed.
The news was announced last Thursday on Good Morning America. People.com ran a feature story about the news later that day. Tahir will appear on GMA on October 18th to discuss the book.
Sabaa Tahir said, “I am honored to help GMA kick off this new YA book club. YA readers are such a passionate, smart and engaged audience and I can’t wait to talk with them about HEIR!”
The GMA YA Book Club will complement GMA’s Monthly Book Club, which launched five years ago in 2019.

Sabaa Tahir is a former newspaper editor who grew up in California’s Mojave Desert at her family’s eighteen-room motel. There, she spent her time devouring fantasy novels, listening to thunderous indie rock, and playing guitar and piano badly. Her #1 New York Times bestselling An Ember in the Ashes series has been translated into more than thirty-five languages, and the first book in the series was named one of TIME’s 100 Best Young Adult Books of All Time. Tahir’s most recent novel, All My Rage, won the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, the Michael L. Printz Award, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Fiction and Poetry, and was an instant New York Times bestseller.
