Penguin Random House sponsored Literacy Partners’ Words Shape Our World: A Literary and Social Justice Series, which was originally launched in late 2020 to bring people together around questions of story and voice as the current moment of racial reckoning gathered force and we endured the first 6 months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Literacy Partners received such great feedback that they are pleased to present a virtual encore of the event this week.

Join an all-star cast in support of literacy for racial justice and social progress for “I Love This Poem Celebrity Readings.” There will be intimate poetry readings from some of the most compelling voices in film, television, theater, and the world of books, including Common, Ethan Hawke, Tayari Jones, Kevin Kline, John Lithgow, Megha Majumdar, Dinaw Mengestu, Julianne Moore, Tommy Orange, Liev Scheiber, Cleo Wade, and more.

Literacy Partners is also re-presenting their “Champion of Literacy” program with One World Author Nikole Hannah-Jones, Kimberlé Crenshaw, and Darren Walker, which Penguin Random House also sponsored as part of the (ultimately canceled) 2020 gala.

Tickets are free. Please click on the links below to reserve your spot.

Penguin Random House is a longtime supporter of Literacy Partners and through our involvement over the years we are proud to have made a difference in their ability to help low-income and immigrant families in New York and now in cities across the country. Since 1973, Literacy Partners has helped more than 25,000 adults through a two generation approach to education. With free classes, community workshops, and educational media, low-income and immigrant parents and caregivers develop literacy and language skills they need to succeed in today’s world.
