Join Tonight’s National Book Awards Virtual Ceremony and Help Celebrate Our Authors
The 72nd National Book Awards Ceremony will be airing live virtually tonight, Wednesday, November 17 at 7:00 pm (ET). Since 1950, the National Book Awards have honored the writers who have helped shape the foundation of literature in the United States. While the broadcast is free, the National Book Foundation is asking all book lovers to support the essential work building a nation of readers with a suggested donation of $50.
You can access the event on the NBF website, YouTube, or Facebook.
As you get ready for this evening, you can download the Awards ballot to make your predictions for this year’s Winners, gather your friends in-person or online for a #NBAwards Watch Party, and prepare the cocktail and hors d’oeuvre developed by 2019 National Book Award Longlister and Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Iliana Regan (Burn the Place: A Memoir).
The event host is Phoebe Robinson, stand-up comedian, writer, producer, actress, NYT Bestselling author and founder of Tiny Preparation Books, a Penguin Random House imprint.
Honorees this year include:
Nancy Pearl, who will be recognized with the National Book Foundation’s Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community, presented by Ron Charles.
Karen Tei Yamashita, who will be recognized with the National Book Foundation’s Medal for Distinguished contribution to American Letters, presented by Viet Thanh Nguyen.
All the best of luck to each of our author finalists, their publishing teams, and to their editors, as well as the Dutton, Penguin Random House Young Readers, Putnam, Random House, and Riverhead publishing colleagues. An additional congratulations to our Penguin Random House Publisher Services clients in the Young People’s Literature and Translated Literature categories.
