Lauren Groff’s FLORIDA Wins The Story Prize

Lauren Groff’s FLORIDA, published by Riverhead Books, has won the 15th annual Story Prize for short fiction, it was announced on Wednesday, March 6, at an awards ceremony at the New School in Manhattan. Groff received $20,000 and an engraved silver bowl. Judges praised Groff’s book as an “immersive experience” into the “beauty and awfulness” of the state of Florida. Her story collection was previously named a 2018 National Book Award Fiction finalist. Among the many fans of FLORIDA is former President Barack Obama, who listed the title among his favorite books of 2018.
