Penguin Press author and Nobel Prize-winnng theoretical physicist Frank Wilczek has won the 2022 Templeton Prize, established in 1972 “to honor individuals whose exemplary achievements advance Sir John Templeton’s philanthropic vision: harnessing the power of the sciences to explore the deepest questions of the universe and humankind’s place and purpose within it.” Valued at more than $1.5 million, the Templeton Prize is one of the world’s richest annual individual awards.
Dr. Wilczek’s editor, Christopher Richards, commented, “I can’t imagine an author more deserving of this achievement than Frank Wilczek, whose books help us experience the secular wonders of our existence. Frank is a beautiful spirit with a boundary-pushing mind and our hope is that this prize will introduce more readers to one of the true geniuses of our age.”
The Templeton Prize judges shared this praise “Dr. Wilczek’s investigations into the fundamental laws of nature have transformed our understanding of the forces that govern our universe. He’s also celebrated for establishing the theoretical description of one of the four fundamental forces in nature and proposing a leading explanation for dark matter.”
Our congratulations to Dr. Wilczek, Mr. Richards and everyone at Penguin Press.
