Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and 2025 Super Bowl MVP, will publish his debut children’s picture book with Flamingo Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers on March 10, 2026.
Margaret Anastas, Vice President and Publisher, Flamingo Books, acquired world rights from United Talent, in conjunction with KLUTCH Sports Group.
The news was announced exclusively on NBC’s Today Show on Monday, June 23. Watch the segment here.
Featuring illustrations by Nneka Myers, BETTER THAN A TOUCHDOWN tells the inspiring story of a boy who dreams of joining his elementary school football team only to learn the team has been cut. He and his friends are devastated, but with friendly advice, teamwork, and persistence, maybe—just maybe—they can save the day. The book depicts the power of community, being there for one another, and how a piece of good advice can change the course of the day. The initial print run will be 150,000 copies.
Jalen Hurts said, “Some of the most valuable lessons I’ve brought into my adult life were passed down to me during childhood, like the importance of doing something bigger than yourself. I’m excited to share some of that wisdom with a new generation of kids in BETTER THAN A TOUCHDOWN. I hope this book strikes a chord of resilience, encourages self-belief and resonates with not only kids, but also teachers, mentors and parents!”
Margaret Anastas added, “From the moment I met Jalen, it was clear he would pour his heart and soul into this book—and he has done that and more. Working with him has been an absolute privilege, and I am so excited for Jalen’s youngest fans to read his wonderful, inspiring book.”
Jalen Hurts shared the news, along with a heartfelt message, on his social media channels:
