PYR’s Stacey Barney Named Winner of Bill Konigsberg Award for Acts and Activism for Equity and Inclusion
Stacey Barney, Executive Editor at G.P. Putnam’s Books for Young Readers, has been named the winner of this year’s Bill Konigsberg Award for Acts and Activism for Equity and Inclusion through Young Adult Literature, presented by the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of the National Council of Teachers of English.
As Stacey’s nominator and author James Brandon describes, “Her books are timeless, her work is tireless, her legacy has changed lives and will change lives for generations to come. If this isn’t the very definition of activism, I don’t know what is.”
Stacey Barney commented, “This is an extraordinary thing I get to do for a living and I’m grateful every day for the wonderful and supportive team at Penguin, my authors, the work, and always the readers.”
Our congratulations to Ms. Barney on this well-deserved honor.
The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of the National Council of Teachers of English established the Bill Konigsberg Award for Acts and Activism for Equity and Inclusion through Young Adult Literature to honor a teacher, author, publisher or anyone who actively promotes equity and inclusion through the creation, promotion, and/or championing of young adult literature.
