Random House Author Lauren Wilkinson Honored as Agent of Change by Girls Write Now via Facebook Live (5/1)

In the third episode of Girls Write Now Live, featuring genre and medium bending work from the next generation of women writers, Lauren Wilkinson, author of the debut novel, AMERICAN SPY (Random House), is recognized as an Agent of Change honoree, amplifying diverse voices.  The event will be emceed by Joanne Ramos, author of THE FARM (Random House), and streamed via Facebook Live on Friday, May 1, at 6:00pm (ET).

Inspired by true events—Thomas Sankara is known as “Africa’s Che Guevara”—AMERICAN SPY knits together a gripping spy thriller, a heartbreaking family drama, and a passionate romance. This is a face of the Cold War you’ve never seen before, and it introduces a powerful new literary voice.

Wilkinson earned an MFA in fiction and literary translation from Columbia University, and has taught writing at Columbia and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was a 2013 Center for Fiction Emerging Writers Fellow, and has also received support from the MacDowell Colony and the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. Wilkinson grew up in New York and lives on the Lower East Side.’
