On Tuesday evening, Riverhead Books hosted their annual holiday fundraiser with hundreds of merry-making guests. This year’s festivities raised $4600 for Community-Word Project, a New York City arts-in-education organization that inspires children in underserved communities to read, interpret and respond to their world. Guests donated at the door and took part in a raffle that offered such enticing prizes as an MM.LaFleur gift certificate, a Yes Way Rosé package, a custom Riverhead apron with Aftelier Perfume’s Chef’s Essence sprays, and a gift certificate to the wine bar Ruffian. Attendees were treated to a delicious array of baked goods made by Riverhead authors including Meg Wolitzer, Elizabeth Gilbert, Masha Gessen, Gilbert King, Pitchaya Sudbanthad, Garrard Conley, Emma Straub, and Julie Klam. Not to be missed: Editor Courtney Young’s mirror-glazed cake emblazoned with the Riverhead logo, in matching tote bag colors. Need a little holiday cheer? Listen to the party playlist here!
