Riverhead Hosts First Pet-Friendly “Pup-Up” Reading Room

Riverhead Books returned with another exciting curated reading room at Brooklyn Bridge Park earlier this month. This time, inspired by beloved four-legged companions both fictional and real, Riverhead hosted a special “pup-up” in which readers were invited to bring their furry friends along to join in the fun for the first time!

Dog owners showed up in full force and took over the Brooklyn waterfront. While the pups mingled and played fetch, the dog-loving humans were free to enjoy our selection of books such as the National Book Award winner THE FRIEND by Sigrid Nunez, YOU HAD ME AT WOOF and LOVE AT FIRST BARK by Julie Klam, MODERN LOVERS by Emma Straub and more, that explore the powerful connection between dogs and humans. Both Julie and Emma stopped by the “pup-up” to sign books for the hourly giveaway and take in the day. Visitors also enjoyed coconut water sponsored by Harmless Harvest. A volunteer from the Animal Care Centers of NYC was on site to provide information on finding fur-ever homes for the rescues of New York.
