Brandon Taylor, author of FILTHY ANIMALS (Riverhead), will discuss his latest novel with fellow Penguin Random House author Hari Kunzru at a virtual event hosted by Loyalty Bookstores (Washington, DC) via Crowdcast on Friday, June 25 at 8:00 pm (ET).

From the author of Booker Prize finalist Real Life, FILTHY ANIMALS paints a portrait of young adults ensnared in violence and desire as an intense and deeply satisfying work of fiction. In the novel, Taylor treads delicate waters of vulnerability, autonomy, violence, and connection.

FILTHY ANIMALS is a series of linked stories set among young creatives in the American Midwest. The novel takes the reader into the narratives of a young man treading delicate emotional waters as he navigates a series of sexually fraught encounters with two dancers in an open relationship, a young woman who battles with the cancers draining her body and her family; a group of teenagers who explode in violence on a winter night; a little girl who tears through a house like a tornado, driving her babysitter to the brink; and couples who feel out the jagged edges of connection, comfort, and cruelty.

As a breakout literary star of 2020, Brandon Taylor has been hailed by New York Times bestselling author Roxane Gay as “a writer who wields his craft in absolutely unforgettable ways.” He holds graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Iowa where he was an Iowa Arts Fellow at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in fiction.
