Penguin Random House authors Jacqueline Woodson, Kwame Alexander, Christopher Myers, Derrick Barnes, Samantha Berger, Linda Sue Park, and Renée Watson are among the 25 authors, artists, and publishers featured at tonight’s #Kidlit Rally for Black Lives.

Hosted by The Brown Bookshelf (@TheBrownBookshelf), this virtual gathering will take place live, beginning at 7:00pm (ET), on the blog’s Facebook page.

“The rally is a way for families, educators, librarians, and members of the children’s book community to come together in support of Black lives, speak to children about this moment, answer their questions, and offer ideas about steps we can all take going forward,” said Alexander, Woodson and National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Jason Reynolds in a joint statement.

“The young people—as always—want answers and clarity,” said Woodson. “As writers of literature for and about young people, we’ve always spoken a language they understand.”

Host Kelly Starling Lyons added, “We’re all hurting and want to do something. This a great way to show kids and families that we’re here for them.”
