Westminster News: Random House Author Lynne Olson Featured at “Day for Book Lovers” Event
Random House author Lynne Olson was one of the featured speakers at Carroll County Public Library’s “Day for Book Lovers” on September 17 at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. Co-sponsored by Penguin Random House, the sold-out event was front-page news in the Carroll County Times, covered in the article Acclaimed Authors Enthrall Audience of ‘Book Lovers’ at McDaniel College by Catalina Righter. In the article’s lead photo, Olson is pictured, along with a glimpse of our Westminster Distribution Center colleague Annette Danek., who attended the event.
Our author shared stories of her love for books and libraries, offering insights into her writing process and most recent book, LAST HOPE ISLAND, a vivid account of how Great Britain became the base of operations for the exiled leaders of Europe in their desperate struggle to reclaim their continent from Hitler during World War II. “When I was in school … history was the driest subject I could imagine. Memorizing events and dates and the names of kings, presidents and generals was and is not my idea of fun,” Olson said. “When I write a book, I work very hard to tell a story through people.”
