Last week, The Journal, a Wall Street Journal podcast, hosted a very special guest: our very own Skip Dye! On the episode titled, “Inside One Publisher’s Fight Against Book Bans,” Skip spoke about leading efforts to fight book bans nationwide at Penguin Random House and why it’s more important than ever to protect the right to read. On the February 26 broadcasted episode, Skip explained, “This is now hampering employees who we have in over 40 states in different ways. It’s impacting how they do their jobs. Katharine McGee, NYT Bestselling Author of AMERICAN ROYALS, To Publish New Historical Romance Duology

Random House Books for Young Readers will publish A QUEEN’S GAME by bestselling author Katharine McGee, the first in a two-book series. The news was announced by Mallory Loehr, EVP & Publisher, Random House Books for Young Readers. McGee’s longtime editor, Caroline Abbey, Associate Publisher, Random House Books for Young Readers, acquired rights and will edit the duology. It will publish on October 1, 2024 with a first printing of 100,000 copies.

Penguin Publishing Group Partners with BLK Book Swap! 

On Sunday February 18th, Penguin Publishing Group partnered with BLK Book Swap, a grassroots organization amplifying Black literature, to lead a book swap event in celebration of Black History Month!  Sunday’s swap was held at Aunts et Uncles, a Black-owned vegan cafe and concept shop in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Over sixty book lovers poured in to trade books and discover their next reads.

George Kantor Promoted to Vice President, Strategic Projects Group

I am pleased to announce that George Kantor has been promoted to Vice President, Strategic Projects Group, effective immediately, continuing to report to me.

Prior to coming to Penguin Random House, George and I worked together at Viacom/MTV Networks and in 2013, when the PRH merger was announced, I knew George would be a wonderful addition to the Strategic Projects Group. He quickly became one of our key resources for critical systems integration work and indispensable to the team. That was 11 years ago, and I would venture to say that all who know him would find it hard to imagine PRH without George.
