Big Crowd of Book Buyers Turn Out for Erwin Raphael McManus Event

Author and LA pastor Erwin Raphael McManus spoke to a packed house at his Barnes & Noble book-signing event Wednesday night at The Grove in Los Angeles. His new book, THE LAST ARROW: Save Nothing for the Next Life, published by WaterBrook on September 5, is a bold manifesto for a life of passion, adventure, and hope. As McManus explains through his words and his own life story, everyone is living out their last days—and no one needs to settle for less than all life has to offer. Dutton Acquires Debut Novel by Hank Green

Christine Ball, Senior Vice President, Publisher, Dutton, announced this week the acquisition of AN ABSOLUTELY REMARKABLE THING, the first novel by Hank Green, best known for his enormously popular Vlogbrothers YouTube channel, which he created with his brother, John Green. A celebration of the freedom to read and to heighten awareness for book censorship, Banned Books Week was started in 1982 as a response to a sudden increase in book challenges. There’s a Book for That: The Vietnam War

This week PBS viewers have been captivated by Ken Burns’ and Lynn Novick’s 10-episode, 18-hour, documentary series, “The Vietnam War” which concludes on September 28th. Six years in the making, written by Geoffrey C. Ward and narrated by Peter Coyote, the series tells the epic story of one of the most controversial and divisive events in American history like never before and “explores the human dimensions of the war through revelatory testimony of nearly 80 witnesses from all sides.” (PBS.com). The official companion book and audiobook to “The Vietnam War” are now available from Penguin Random House along with other excellent titles – including reportage and reporters featured in the series – all of which broaden our understanding of this seminal event in our history. Our 2017 Kirkus Prize Finalists

Kirkus Reviews has announced its 2017 Kirkus Prize finalists, with four titles published by Penguin Random House imprints among the nominated titles. Books that earned the Kirkus Star, with publication dates between September 1, 2016 and August 31, 2017, were nominated for the prize, created in 2014 to celebrate quality writing and Kirkus Reviews’ more than 80-year legacy of literary criticism.
