Maxine the Fluffy Corgi, Social Media Sensation, Makes Her RHCB Debut

Random House Children’s Books will publish MAXINE GETS A JOB, a picture book about @madmax_fluffyroad, one of the world’s most popular and recognizable dogs, with over six million social media followers. The exciting news was announced today by Mallory Loehr, EVP & Publisher, Random House Books for Young Readers. MAXINE GETS A JOB will release on May 7, 2024, and was written by Alexandra Garyn and Bryan Reisberg, dog parents to Maxine, with illustrations by Susan Batori.

Book World by PRH Takes on New York Comic-Con With Book Giveaways, Author Signings & More!

New York Comic-Con was back in full swing this year with over 150,000 attendees! Despite Hollywood’s labor strike and the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, attendees showed high enthusiasm, as was noted by Publishers Weekly in an article that commented on the excitement around PRH’s many genre imprints.

Penguin Random House exhibited from Thursday, October 12 through Sunday, October 15 as Book World Presented by Penguin Random House, utilizing our full brand power to make a splash on the show floor and to drive book sales, discovery, and buzz around upcoming titles.

When I decided to contribute to the open call asking what living Latine means to me, nothing came to mind at first. I was a blank sheet with no thoughts in sight to grasp. In a way, it’s difficult for me to answer these types of questions because I am so entirely entrenched in my culture, in my roots. (As someone born to Cuban and Chilean parents, it’s something I never take for granted.) Being born and raised in Miami meant being surrounded by reminders of my background constantly – so much so that I experienced culture shock when I went away to school in north Florida, and no one yelled Spanish words across a parking lot and bakeries with traditional goods weren’t on every corner.

Random House to Publish Memoir of Serena Williams

Random House will publish two books by cultural icon Serena Williams, winner of 39 major tennis titles, four-time Olympic gold medalist, and champion for equality and justice in sports. North American rights were acquired by VP and Executive Editor Jamia Wilson and Publisher Andy Ward from Suzanne Gluck at WME. Both books will be edited by Wilson. Audiobook editions will be released simultaneously by Penguin Random House Audio. Global publishing rights have been sold in 11 territories with more to be announced. The publishing deal was announced today by Sanyu Dillon, President of the Random House Group.

“My name made stand out…” an Essay from Ximena Gonzalez

My name plate found in a store in Chile, something that NEVER happens in the US.

This essay was written by Ximena Gonzalez, Marketing Assistant, Penguin Press Marketing.

I knew I was different before I even knew why. My name made me stand out. It was a conversation piece and immediately separated me from anyone else. When I was growing up in school, there may have been three Ashleys in a classroom, but there would only be one Ximena. In the US, my name is something to be perplexed by. It’s what caused teachers to stop and stare at the paper in front of them while taking roll call, or it forced people to make a Z sound, when there was no Z in sight. When I was younger, I felt jaded from having my name butchered to no end. As I got older, I’ve developed deep affection for my name and its uniqueness, and most importantly—its origins.

2024 Creative Writing Awards Applications Are Now Open!

Penguin Random House, and We Need Diverse Books (WNDB), have opened submissions for the 2024 Creative Writing Awards. This is the first year the awards include the Freedom of Expression Award; in the face of book bans and attacks on free expression on the rise in America, Penguin Random House and We Need Diverse Books celebrate the power of books and stories. Applicants to the new award will be asked to answer the prompt, “Tell us about one banned book that changed your life and why.”
