RHCB to Publish Award-Winning HAMILTON Star Phillipa Soo’s Debut Picture Book

Random House Studio, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, will publish PIPER CHEN SINGS by Phillipa Soo and Maris Pasquale Doran, illustrated by acclaimed artist Qin Leng, it was announced today by Lee Wade, VP & Publisher of Random House Studio and the book’s editor. The book is scheduled to publish on April 2, 2024!

Crown to Publish Rachel Maddow’s PREQUEL: AN AMERICAN’S FIGHT AGAINST FACISM

On October 17, 2023, Crown will publish PREQUEL: An American Fight Against Fascism, the new book from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Maddow. World publishing rights for the book were acquired by Crown SVP, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief, Gillian Blake from Laurie Liss of Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc. Maddow herself announced the book’s publication last night on her Emmy Award–winning The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC.

Coalition of Booksellers, Authors & Publishers File Suit to Challenge New Censorship Law in Texas

On July 25, the American Association of Publishers, of which Penguin Random House is a member, joined two Texas booksellers (Book People in Austin and Blue Willow Bookshop in Houston), American Booksellers Association, Authors Guild, and Comic Book Legal Defense Fund to file a legal challenge to “The Reader Act” (formerly Texas HB 900). The lawsuit claims that the bill, which requires Texas school library material vendors to rate books based on sexual content, violates the First and Fourteenth Amendments.

6 PRH Titles Longlisted for The Center for Fiction 2023 First Novel Prize

Six Penguin Random House titles were longlisted for The Center for Fiction 2023 First Novel Prize. The Center for Fiction says, “The twenty-five debut novels were selected from 160 submitted titles with U.S. publication dates between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.” These exemplary debuts showcase some of the best storytelling this year.

Rev. Wheeler Parker, Jr. Attends White House Proclamation for the Emmett Till National Monument

On Tuesday, July 25, President Joe Biden signed a proclamation at the White House, establishing a national monument in honor of Emmett Till and his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley. Emmett Till’s story played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement after he was abducted, tortured and lynched in 1955. Reverend Wheeler Parker Jr. is the co-author of A FEW DAYS FULL OF TROUBLE, and as the last surviving witness to the lynching of Emmett Till, the book includes poignant recollections of Emmett as a boy, critical insights into the recent investigation, and powerful lessons for racial reckoning, both then and now.
