Remembering Doubleday/Broadway/Crown/Penguin Editor Charlie Conrad

Celebrated editor and former colleague Charlie Conrad died on November 21, 2021, from complications of ALS. He was 61.

Conrad edited some of the biggest names in narrative nonfiction, among them Frances Mayes and Jon Krakauer. His illustrious career spanned several publishing imprints – including Doubleday, Broadway, Crown, and Penguin – and genres of travel, memoir, biography, and history. Continue reading →

This virtual event was attended by key K12 decision makers, providing them with an opportunity to network, hear from leading editors and publishing professionals, and have a voice to help shape the conversation around bringing contemporary, authentic, and diverse stories to today’s classrooms. Stephen Sondheim, Musical Theater Legend and Knopf Author, Dies at 91

When Stephen Sondheim died last Friday at the age of 91, he left behind a treasure trove of music and lyrics that forever changed American theater and beguiled and delighted audiences far and wide. Those lyrics, which were collected in two separate volumes – FINISHING THE HAT and LOOK, I MADE A HAT – were published by Knopf in 2010 and 2011. And a third book, the pocket-sized SONDHEIM: Lyrics, was published by Everyman’s Library just last year. Continue reading →
