Bertelsmann Acquires Full Ownership of Penguin Random House

Gütersloh, New York, London, December 18, 2019 – Bertelsmann is acquiring the remaining 25-percent stake in Penguin Random House from the British media company Pearson, making it the sole owner of the book publishing group.

This year, Riverhead Books’ annual holiday party raised a total of $3,300 for One Moore Book, a nonprofit that publishes children’s books and promotes literacy in underrepresented cultures, founded by author Wayétu Moore. Penguin Press Author Greta Thunberg Named TIME’s 2019 Person of the Year

Greta Thunberg is TIME magazine’s 2019 Person of the Year. This is the first time the publication has bestowed the highly regarded honor on a teenager, making the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist its youngest ever Person of the Year. TIME notes: “Thunberg is not a leader of any political party or advocacy group. She is neither the first to sound the alarm about the climate crisis nor the most qualified to fix it.
