Penguin Teen Launches “We Are YA” Podcast with Anna Borges

Penguin Young Readers announced today the launch of Penguin Teen’s “We Are YA,” the first Young Adult podcast of its kind from a major publisher that gives creators a platform to speak their minds, dig into sensitive topics, and reflect on the social media zeitgeist. Hosted by Anna Borges, a mental health journalist formerly at Buzzfeed, senior editor at Self Magazine, and author of The More or Less Definitive Guide to Self-Care, “We Are YA” creates a safe space where authors can have honest, thoughtful conversations about sensitive topics. The show launches on September 19^th with “Finding Joy” with Gabby Rivera (Juliet Takes a Breath). A new episode of “We Are YA” will premiere weekly through October and will be available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Anchor. There’s a Book for That: Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 through October 15, during which time we honor the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture. Hispanic Heritage Month, whose roots go back to 1968, begins each year on September 15, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile and Belize also celebrate their independence days during this period and Columbus Day (Día de la Raza) is October 12 (observed this year in the U.S. on Monday, October 14th). Alfred A. Knopf has acquired world rights to a new novel by Tayari Jones, the bestselling author of An American Marriage, her critically acclaimed fourth book. The new novel, OLD FOURTH WARD, will be published simultaneously in hardcover and ebook by Alfred A. Knopf, and as an audiobook by Penguin Random House Audio. Margaret Anastas to Launch New Imprint at Viking Children’s Books

Jen Loja, President, Penguin Young Readers, and Ken Wright, President and Publisher, Viking Children’s Books and Philomel Books, imprints at Penguin Young Readers, announced today that MARGARET ANASTAS will join Viking Children’s Books, where she will launch a to-be-named imprint dedicated to publishing commercial picture books and picture-book franchises.
