September 2017 has been the most active month of any Atlantic hurricane season on record (weather.com). The devastation, and resulting humanitarian crisis, caused by Hurricane Maria has thrust Puerto Rico and The Virgin Islands into the latest news. Puerto Rican officials said electricity may not be fully restored for more than a month.  Three million of the island’s U.S. citizens still lack adequate food, water and fuel.
