Delacorte Press Acquires SNOWGLOBE, An Innovative Dystopian Thriller Originally Released in South Korea

Delacorte Press has acquired SNOWGLOBE by Soyoung Park, the first book in a powerful young adult dystopian duology, as announced last week by Beverly Horowitz, SVP & Publisher, Delacorte Press. Originally published in South Korea in 2020 by Changbi Publishers, the novel has been translated into English by Joungmin Lee Comfort, introducing a new readership to the cutting-edge commentary on climate change, socioeconomic inequality, and personal identity. The book will published early 2024.

Random House Author Dasha Kiper on Dementia & the Role of the Caregiver

After getting a master’s degree in clinical psychology, Dasha Kiper became the live-in caregiver for a Holocaust survivor with Alzheimer’s disease. For a year, she endured the emotional strain of looking after a person whose condition disrupts the rules of time, order, and continuity. Inspired by her own experience and her work counseling caregivers in the subsequent decade, Kiper offers an entirely new way to understand the symbiotic relationship between patients and those tending to them in TRAVELERS TO UNINMAGINABLE LANDS (Random House). Miami is not the Caribbean, but with its close proximity to countries such as Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti and many more, it sure feels like it. Growing up at the very end of South Florida, the Caribbean was my entire universe. Summers were spent on the front stoop with my Cuban abuelo, picking mangoes out of his tree and waiting for neighbors to drop by with papaya or yuca. Dusk brought out mosquitoes that lingered around my ankles, but the sweat in the creases of my arms and legs would finally dry. The house would begin to smell sweetly of fried plantain, and I could retreat into books rich with lore — sea goddesses, generation-spanning curses, earthquakes of mythic proportions, and accents lost.

Berkley Author Julie Garwood Passes Away at 78

Bestselling romance novelist Julia Elizabeth Garwood—best known as Julie Garwood—passed away on Thursday, June 8 in her home in Leawood, KS. She was 78.

Thirty-eight years ago, Garwood launched a writing career that made her one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved romance novelists of her generation. A #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Garwood wrote more than 30 novels and more than 40 million copies of her books are in print in 32 languages. Garwood began her career writing historical romance novels and since 2000 she enjoyed writing contemporary romantic suspense novels. Regardless of subgenre, Garwood’s novels focused on family relationships, whether family of blood or choice, love, and honor.
