Dutton author Alan Weisman Co-Founds The Public Interest Reporting Defense Fund

Alan Weisman, author of The World Without Us (Picador, 2008), and a forthcoming title from Dutton, HOPE DIES LAST (2024) has co-founded The Public Interest Reporting Defense Fund, in response to the alarming increases worldwide in the number of journalists being arrested in the line of duty.

“Preeminent” Crown Contracts Director, Dorothy Boyajy, Retiring July 8

News from David Sanford, Senior Vice President, Executive Director, Contracts & Permissions, Penguin Random House: It is with mixed emotions that I wish to let you know that DOROTHY BOYAJY, Contracts Director for Crown, will be retiring from Penguin Random House on July 8.

On the one hand, I am happy for Dorothy that she will take a well-deserved retirement after a 44-year career at PRH and legacy companies to travel and enjoy life. On the other hand, we will all miss her outstanding skills as a preeminent contracts drafter and negotiator. Continue reading →

PRH Education Grant Supports NCTE’s “This Story Matters” Campaign

Penguin Random House Education is proud to announce that the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) has officially launched “This Story Matters”, a campaign that includes a new online database which contains over six hundred book rationales highlighting plot summaries, teaching objectives, grade-level suggestions, alternative book titles, and more, all designed to help support educators when they are challenged in adopting new books into their curriculum. While NCTE has always shared rationales with members, this is the first time that the book rationales will be available digitally and to a broader audience. PRH Education supported the digitization effort in the form of a $10,000 grant, which was announced on Igloo back in March.

Crown Author David Philipps Wins Colorado Book Award for ALPHA

The 2022 Colorado Book Awards winners were announced on Saturday, June 25, at a celebration in Denver, with David Philipps’ ALPHA: Eddie Gallagher and the War for the Soul of the Navy SEALs (Crown) winning in the Biography category.
