PRH and Latinx KidLit Book Festival Partner to Celebrate Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month

In celebration of Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month, Penguin Random House is partnering with The Latinx KidLit Book Festival to launch a special fund dedicated to connecting Latinx authors and illustrators with students through virtual school visits open to K-12 only. Title 1 schools and schools with a 50% or greater Latinx student population will receive priority.

Penguin Random House & Kundiman Launch Publishing Panels for Asian American Writers

As part of our ongoing partnership with Kundiman, an organization dedicated to nurturing generations of writers and readers of Asian American Literature, Penguin Random House is excited to sponsor a series of free publishing panels for Asian American writers. The series will include three free publishing panels featuring, respectively, Asian American editors, agents, and publicists, hosted by Kundiman staff. Each session will last 90 minutes. Penguin Random House Partners with The Word For #MarginsBooksellingMonth

Penguin Random House is excited to announce a partnership with The Word, A Storytelling Sanctuary, for 2022 #MarginsBookselling Month, which takes place annually in October.

#MarginsBookselling Month was launched in October 2020 by The Word, A Storytelling Sanctuary, and is a month-long celebration with the goal of uplifting and supporting independent bookstores owned and managed by booksellers from historically marginalized communities. During October and beyond, The Word, in partnership with Penguin Random House, will host a variety of author events. The Word will also host workshops for booksellers to explore new business models and create pathways for professional development and growth.

“As the number of banned books featuring BIPOC characters and LGBTQIA+ themes continues to rise, it is increasingly imperative to support culturally sensitive homes for these stories,” Viniyanka Prasad, Founder and Executive Director of The Word, A Storytelling Sanctuary. “Booksellers from historically marginalized communities play a crucial role in putting important stories into the hands of those who need them most. It is our honor to celebrate independent bookstores and booksellers across the intersections, and their important role in book publishing.”

In addition to online events and workshops, #MarginsBookselling Month features an online map of participating booksellers. More than 100 bookstores and booksellers in nearly 40 states have signed up to receive bookmarks, pins, and window decals that are designed to help spark conversation and connection with readers in their communities. Michelle Obama Announces THE LIGHT WE CARRY Tour: In Conversation with Michelle Obama

Today, Live Nation and Crown, an imprint of Random House, announced Michelle Obama’s live U.S. book tour events in support of her new, highly anticipated book, THE LIGHT WE CARRY: OVERCOMING IN UNCERTAIN TIMES. Produced by Live Nation, the six-city U.S. tour will kick off in Washington, D.C. at Warner Theatre on November 15. The book tour will also make stops in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco, before wrapping December 13 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
