International Booker Winner “Tomb of Sand” Makes History for PRH India

Thrilling, literary-history-making news from Penguin Random House India: They are celebrating their author, Geetanjali Shree, winning the 2022 International Booker Prize for her novel “Tomb of Sand,” translated from the Hindi by Daisy Rockwell. This is the first a Hindi translation has been honored with the International Booker, bestowed annually for the best in translated fiction. PRH Authors Channer, Phillips, Taylor, Wade, Zhang: 2022 NYPL Cullman Center Fellows

The New York Public Library’s Dorothy and Lewis Cullman Center Fellows 24th class include five authors published by Penguin Random House imprints. The Fellowship, which runs from September 2022 through May 2023, is an international program open to academics, visual artists, scholars, and creative writers whose work will directly benefit from access to the collections in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. The selected Fellows will also participate in a continuous exchange of ideas within the Cullman Center and in public forums in the New York Public Library, in addition to working on their independent projects. Margaret Atwood & PRH Fight Censorship With an “Unburnable” Edition of THE HANDMAID’S TALE

To raise awareness about the proliferating book banning and educational gag orders in American schools nationwide, and to raise money to support PEN America’s crucial work to counter this national crisis of censorship, Margaret Atwood and Penguin Random House have partnered to create The Unburnable Book, a fireproof edition of Atwood’s prescient—and often banned—novel The Handmaid’s Tale, featuring the iconic Handmaid imagery by designer Noma Bar.
