Barcelona, 3 May 2019—Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, the global Spanish-language division of Penguin Random House, has signed an agreement to acquire leading independent publisher Ediciones Salamandra, established in October 2000 in Barcelona by Sigrid Kraus and Pedro del Carril. ABT Adapting Penguin Classics’ JANE EYRE by Charlotte Brontë for Met Opera Stage

The American Ballet Theater (ABT) is adapting the Charlotte Brontë novel JANE EYRE—published by Penguin Classics—for New York City’s Metropolitan Opera main stage. The limited run, June 4-10, features three different Janes performing on alternating nights: principal dancers Misty Copeland, Isabella Boylston (she has a ballerina bookclub), and Devon Teuscher will all inhabit the role. JANE EYRE is the first full-length ballet brought to the Metropolitan Opera House stage by a female choreographer since 1980.

On Friday, May 3, the JANE EYRE ballerinas will be joined at the 92nd Street Y by the ballet’s choreographer Cathy Marston for a panel discussion moderated by Elda Rotor, Vice President & Publisher of Penguin Classics. Continue reading →

Westover, Orange ABA Indies Choice & Woodson Indie Champion Award Winners, Our Two New Picture Book Hall of Famers

The American Booksellers Association (ABA) has announced the winners of the 2019 Indies Choice, E.B. White Read Aloud, and Indie Champion Awards. Our authors received two Indies Choice Awards, determined by independent booksellers from ABA member stores, selecting their favorite titles published last year, and casting their votes via online balloting. These booksellers also chose an Indie Champion Award and three new inductees into the Picture Book Hall of Fame, including two of our classic young readers titles. All prizes and honors will be presented and celebrated on Thursday, May 30, at the ABA Indies Choice Awards ceremony at BookExpo 2019 at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Continue reading →

Publication of Amélie Wen Zhao’s BLOOD HEIR Set for This Fall

Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, will publish BLOOD HEIR, the first volume in Amélie Wen Zhao’s debut young adult fantasy trilogy, on November 19, 2019 with a hardcover first printing of 150,000 copies, it was announced by Delacorte Press SVP & Publisher Beverly Horowitz.
