There’s a Book for That: Yom Kippur

This year, Yom Kippur commenced on October 8, at sundown and will end on October 9, at sundown. Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement—is considered the most important holiday in the Jewish faith and is observed with a 25-hour fast and a special religious service. Yom Kippur is the culmination of the Ten Days of Awe, a period of introspection and repentance that follows Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. According to tradition, it is on Yom Kippur that God decides each person’s fate, so Jews are encouraged to make amends and ask forgiveness for sins committed during the past year. Doubleday to Publish Bill Gates Book About Climate Change in June 2020

Bill Gates is writing a book about energy and climate change that will be published by Doubleday in June 2020. With this new book, HOW TO AVOID A CLIMATE DISASTER: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need, Gates seeks to share what he’s learned in over a decade of studying climate change and investing in innovations to address the problems. He will set out a vision for how the world can work to build the tools it needs to get to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. Jim Carrey to Publish Novel with Knopf

Jim Carrey has written a novel, MEMOIRS AND MISINFORMATION, that will be published by Alfred A. Knopf in May 2020. Carrey wrote the book in collaboration with novelist Dana Vachon. Knopf acquired world rights from David Kuhn at Aevitas Creative Management. The novel will be published by Knopf in hardcover and eBook, and by Penguin Random House Audio, on May 5, 2020.
