McLaughlin, Solnit, Chariandy Win 2019 Windham-Campbell Prizes

Random House author Danielle McLaughlin, Penguin Books author Rebecca Solnit, along with Penguin Random House Canada / McClelland & Stewart author David Chariandy, were among the eight winners of the prestigious Windham-Campbell Prizes for 2019, announced on March 12 in London. Lauren Groff’s FLORIDA Wins The Story Prize

Lauren Groff’s FLORIDA, published by Riverhead Books, has won the 15th annual Story Prize for short fiction, it was announced on Wednesday, March 6, at an awards ceremony at the New School in Manhattan. Groff received $20,000 and an engraved silver bowl. Judges praised Groff’s book as an “immersive experience” into the “beauty and awfulness” of the state of Florida. Her story collection was previously named a 2018 National Book Award Fiction finalist.
