CRAFTED x Riverhead Event Series Debuts with “Sip & Stich,” Featuring Author Elizabeth Gilbert

The brand-new CRAFTED x Riverhead event series debuted last week with Sip & Stitch! A room of 40+ booklovers embroidered custom patterns, talked books, and enjoyed delicious drinks and food courtesy of Le Grand Courtage and City Bakery. Sip & Stitch guests received an embroidery starter kit, featuring one of three designed stitching patterns inspired by the iconic Riverhead Tote, CITY OF GIRLS by Elizabeth Gilbert, and RED AT THE BONE by Jacqueline Woodson. After mingling in the gorgeous lululemon SoHo community space, guests sat down for a quick tutorial on a few stitches and were encouraged to get creative with their designs. A major highlight of the night was hanging out with beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert, pictured below with some of the participants.

Iconic fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg hosted an October 10 celebration at her DVF studio. Guests included actor/advocates Cicely Tyson, Marlo Thomas, and Phil Donahue, as well as PRH colleagues Madeline McIntosh, Allison Dobson, Barbara Marcus, and Ivan Held. There’s a Book for That: Yom Kippur

This year, Yom Kippur commenced on October 8, at sundown and will end on October 9, at sundown. Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement—is considered the most important holiday in the Jewish faith and is observed with a 25-hour fast and a special religious service. Yom Kippur is the culmination of the Ten Days of Awe, a period of introspection and repentance that follows Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. According to tradition, it is on Yom Kippur that God decides each person’s fate, so Jews are encouraged to make amends and ask forgiveness for sins committed during the past year.
