One World bestselling author, Wes Moore, became the first Black Governor of Maryland (and third in U.S. history) after being sworn into office on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. His historic inauguration in Annapolis, where he was sworn in with a bible that once belonged to Frederick Douglass, included such special guests as former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, former president of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Sherrilyn Ifill, comedian Chris Tucker, baseball legend Cal Ripken, Jr., Philanthropist and former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey.
